About the FORS Standard and FORS Safety System
What is FORS accreditation?
The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) www.fors-online.org.uk is a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators which aims to raise the level of quality within fleet operations. It also aims to demonstrate which operators are achieving exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection. Durite is an Associate supplier and provides vehicle safety kits that help fleet operators achieve Silver accreditation. This confirms the operator follows good practice and complies with the requirements for the FORS standard. By achieving FORS Silver accreditation, your fleet will also be compliant with the CLOCS Standard for Construction Logistics and with TfL’s Work Related Road Risk (WRRR).
What is CLOCS?
Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) is a national industry standard to ensure the safest vehicle construction journeys during all construction projects and programmes. It defines the primary requirements of all those involved in any construction scheme, including any road-going vehicles servicing the project.
What is the difference between a FORS compliant system and a DVS Safe System?
The DVS Safe System Phase 1 requirement has been built around the FORS Standard, which, at the time, was already well established and had proven beneficial to many lorry fleets across the country.
The Direct Vision Standard by TfL (Transport for London) focusses on protecting vulnerable road users in and around London and the M25 boundary. As a result, the only difference between FORS and DVS is that you will need an additional rear camera and rear alarm to comply with the FORS Vehicle Safety Equipment Guide.
