Safety, the future of logistics
Safety is a priority for all and is at the core of what we do.
The UK Government is actively promoting vehicle and road safety. Significant changes to improve road safety include the ‘Hierarchy of road users’ in the Highway code, protecting the road users most at risk in the event of a collision. The Government has also taken the lead by enforcing a safety legislation on HGVs over 12T to make the roads in London safer – a first in the world (DVS). The leading industry standard FORS, who were established over 10 years ago, played a big part in setting out key safety requirements. It now has 4,700 members, over 90,000+ vehicles. Looking out to the EU, all safety equipment is regulated and new safety criteria are implemented. The UNECE 151 for side and rear detection systems and the UNECE 159 for front detection Moving Off Information System (MOIS), for example, are compulsory for new models while all new vehicles will feature the equipment from 2024.
